A short note about an important cause.

Despite having participated in hundreds of window/door product claims, becoming closely involved with my first child fall claim sent an indelible message. I knew early on “this is going to leave a mark.” It did and that’s good.

An avoidable death or serious injury to a child is a horrible reminder of the fragility of human life. The fact is that the best meaning care-giver cannot plan and protect against that which cannot be foreseen. Window Safety Week is an annual effort to promote awareness of the very real potential for injury to children at open windows.

Young children often cannot see directly out the window. They will naturally reach for and will climb furniture to get a better look. In the process, they put themselves in a peril which may not be perceived. Caregivers absolutely need to be made aware of the risk and should welcome the reminders that are occasionally available.
